So I finally did it!
I made homemade healthy gummy bears!
Well these aren’t in the shape of bears, but the bear silicon mold on my shopping list.
After going to a birthday party and my kids getting all excited because they got a package of gummy candies from their friends birthday party, (damn you parents who give out candy in the gift bag at birthday parties!!….) I decided it was time I take candy into my own hands and make them myself.
And behold my strawberry banana smoothie gummies.
So simple, I don’t know why gelatin intimidated me before.
Sure you’ve gotta work fast with it, and really whisk the mixture, but it wasn’t hard at all.
So say goodby to artificial flavours, artificial colours, sugar and other yucky ingredients, and hello healthy gummy bears for the #momwin.
Plus, did you know they are healthy for YOU too mom?
Contrary to my sister in laws belief, they are not fat. There is no fat in gelatin.
What is Gelatin?
Gelatin is made up of animal parts such as skin, bone and other tissue which is dehydrated and ground up into a powder. While it sounds unappetizing, it’s this animal tissue that makes it gummy when mixed with water.
So if you are looking to have luscious hair, skin and long nails, gelatin can help with that, among other health benefits.
Here are some of the health benefits of gelatin:
- Helps rebuilding and growing more connective tissue to help heal abdominal separation and perineal tearing.
- Improves digestion to eliminate bloating and food intolerances.
- Protects join and decreases joint pain.
- Increase bone strength and help heal broken bones.
So now let’s sink our teeth into these delicious smoothie gummies, and let’s reap the health benefits, plus the benefits of knowing our kids are eating healthy and enjoying their snacks!
